Myanmar Relief
Project
GAiN
has now shipped in 10 containers of
emergency relief, with more containers on the way. An extensive
distribution network has been formed using local volunteers. An
Ops office now exists in Yangon with 10 staff and two managers
and an army of local volunteers. 20 teams are currently on the
ground using motorbikes, boats, trucks to get Aid into the
affected areas. In some cases, volunteers have walked supplies to
those in need if no other means was possible. Good relationships with government officials at
a local level have made way for GAiN to now supervise the relief
effort in 6 villages. So far 18,000 food kits have been distributed by our partners.
6 Truck loads (appox 240 tonne) of supplies have been procurred and distributed by
Gain volunteers and staff. Using both offical and unoffical
channels, GAiN is getting Aid to those who need it most.

Solomon Islands Tsunami Relief
Project (Aug)
A
new frontier of relationships were pioneered in the
Solomon Islands. Following the devastation of the Solomon
Islands Tsunami, GAiN responded by supplying a large 40 foot
container of clothing and materials. However what really moved
the hearts of the locals is when our small team braved a couple of
hours on open sea in a elongated "tinny" to comfort those affected in
person. This was significant as all other forms of transportation have been
closed down. There is no greater expression of love and compassion when
you go out of your way to be with those in need. GAiN is now looking
at further project possibilities in the area of infrastructure
development, please contact the office if you are interested.

gratitude. We would like to pass on a special thanks to all of
our partners and supporters.

A
small team continued the work of building relationships and
determining the needs of Australian Indigenous people. A strong bond
of trust has formed between community tribal elders and
representatives in the GAiN teams. Our humanitarian efforts saw
the painting of the local community hall as well as the distribution
of 60 boxes of clothing, blankets and curtains. Also plans are
being put in place to tackle the issue of alcohol abuse, child abuse
and youth social issues. The next volunteer trip is scheduled
for July 2008.

Cambodian Medical
Project April 07
This is the third medical project
to Cambodia in 15 months. A team of 9 Australians (including 4
doctors and 3 nurses) and 14 Cambodian assistants. This was a
significant trip as it was led by one of our new leaders with out the
presence of senior leadership. This testifies to the
development, growth and ever expanding reach of GAiN. Well done
Elizabeth Chan. What is obvious is that the Cambodian military
have completely accepted the work of GAiN and help and support us
where ever we go.

On arrival
in Cambodia,
we were encouraged by the unexpected reception of Cambodia Army. Then
followed two weeks of intensive ministry. When we were ready to

the Army was grateful of our practical help to their country.
